My best friend growing up invited to me attend a Kids Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu session with him, and I fell in love with the sport instantly.
I love how Jiu-Jitsu teaches us equality, respect, values, friendship and how to persevere. I believe that I can live my life to my highest potential when I train hard on our mats.
Having the opportunity to grow one of the best schools in Sydney, where I have helped build a community that has become a family to so many people in the Sutherland Shire.
Growing up in Rio De Janeiro, if I wasn’t at Jiu-Jitsu, I was at the beach catching some waves on my surfboard. I also enjoy outdoor activities, being around my friends and family, and of course watching and studying a mixture of martial arts.
Professor Fred Carvalho is the head instructor of Gracie Barra Caringbah. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has been a life-long passion for Fred who has dedicated the past 20 years to this art, training and competing in Brazil. As a competitor he has achieved many titles fighting in both the State and National Brazilian Championships. Fred believes that our body and mind grow stronger with encouragement from great masters. He is an example of this, attributing his confidence, self-esteem and positive attitude to the influence Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has had on his life. During times of great personal tragedy and loss, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu along with his friends have helped him to overcome and triumph through adversity. Fred has great passion for BJJ and with no doubt in his mind claims this martial art is influential for all human beings in the world to live with more joy and inner peace.
All of my friends did Jiu-Jitsu where I grew up in Rio De Janeiro. I started training in Luta Livre, which is a Brazilian style of submission wrestling. Eventually I stopped Luta Livre and dedicated all of my free time to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Whenever we step onto our mats at Gracie Barra Caringbah, everyone is the same. There is no concept of background, race, religion, gender, or politics. We are all like one, looking to help each other achieve our goals.
My biggest achievement and honour is to help spread the message of ‘Jiu-Jitsu for Everyone’. I take a lot of pride in helping people improve their lives through martial arts.
Just like my friend Professor Fred, I also grew up in Rio De Janeiro, surfing at the beach is where you can find me if I am not training on our mats.
Jiu Jitsu has changed my life. I'm grateful for every day on the mats, and for everything that happened with me since I decided to step on the mats for the first time. Jiu Jitsu taught me how much consistency is important in life, how strong and resilient I'm able to be and how satisfying is to help other people to get the same benefits.

Arts in general, I love drawing.
I'm from Sao Paulo - Brazil.
My Jiu Jitsu journey started when I was 23 years old and, since then, little by little, jiu jitsu has turned into my life. I left my carrer as lawyer in Brazil in 2017 to come to Australia and follow my dream as Brazilian Jiu JItsu instructor.
I did my first competition when I got my blue belt back in Brazil, and in 2018 I was first ranked female purple belt in Queensland Australia.
